Since starting operation in 1964 Merritts Gravel Pit is well known for being the main producer & supplier of the Chapel Hill Gravel also known as "Chapel Hill Grit".
Merritts Gravel Pit is a family owned & operated quarry. We believe in doing business the right way. We are conveniently located just 3 miles from UNC Chapel Hill, 12 miles from Duke University Campus, and 14 miles from Pittsboro, NC.
We are dedicated to providing top quality aggregate to suit your project needs. Along with our aggregate products we offer a place to dump Clean Dirt, Rock, Boulders, Mud, Concrete, Asphalt & Millings. With convenience in mind this service allows our customers to dump unwanted or extra materials that they have on site and haul out material from our quarry. Our site is set up to handle large volumes of truck traffic, offering our customers an efficient turnaround time to dump materials, get loaded and return back to your job site, increasing your productivity rate.
